"Riding in Rolling Thunder is much more than a ride, it is a statement along with 400,000 or so other bikers that 'we will NEVER forget' those men and women who serve and protect our families and our nation; that our government must do ALL that it can to bring home the fallen and care for their wounds and for their survivors and that the sound of 'rolling thunder' reflects the freedom and strength of our nation. I did not serve in the military, but many close family and friends did and some did not come back alive. This is one of the ways that I speak for them and remember always."
Mike - Alexandria, VA

"We ride in honor of those that have served to make this country great. It is in honor of fathers, uncles, family members and friends who have and are serving to protect our freedom. Some may forget, but I believe that we can never take something as precious as freedom for granted. The hours that I ride on this day enable me to express my appreciation to those that have and are serving on the front line. On this day, we reflect and remember those individuals."

"I grew up near a large military base in Southeast Alabama, Fort Rucker. My dad served in the Army during WWII. One of my sisters was a flight instructor on Blackhawk simulators in Fort Campbell, KY for over 30 years, teaching countless soldiers to fly. I've been around the military for most of my life and learned early in life to respect what they do for us and our way of life. Why do I ride in Ride of the Patriots? To honor the service of my family and the sacrifices made by so many. Also I enjoy the comaraderie that I have with my friends. And, living in the Northern Virginia/Metro D.C. area, home of Ride of the Patriots & Rolling Thunder, there is no reason for me NOT to ride."
